FIRST AID

We can guide you to several HSE approved first aid training providers to ensure that you provide the necessary First Aid at Work, the Health and Safety Regulations 1981 to ensure you adhere to these regulations.

Basic advice on first aid used in an emergency should include consideration of first aiders priorities in an emergency for example to assess this situation and make the area safe, avoid putting a first aider in danger, assess all casualties and attend any unconscious casualties. Send for help and do not delay.

This could include shouting or help in the first instance.

Thereafter checking for a response should include opening the airway and checking for normal breathing and thereafter taking appropriate action.

The Health & Safety Executive provide a useful leaflet ‘Basic Advice on First Aid at Work’ for use in an emergency, but this is not of course a substitute for effective training.
